Some tires have been developed for more than one application, which means, for instance, that the tire can be used on a Loader application (Loader and Dozer operation – indicated by the TRA code L on the sidewall) as well as an Articulated Dump Truck application (Earthmover or transport operation indicated by the TRA code E on the sidewall).
These tires are often called ‘dual marked tires’ or ‘tires with dual specification codes’.
The example above shows a dual marked tire 875/65R29 E3/L3.
TRA Code L3 corresponds Load Index 214 (21200kgs) and Speed Symbol A2 (10 km/h)
TRA Code E3 corresponds Load Index 203 (15500kg) and the Speed Symbol B (50 km/h)
In this example the dual marked tire has for both applications (Loader and Earthmover).

Radial Tires are sometimes marked with “LOADER & DOZER ★(one star)” and “EARTHMOVER ★★(two star)”, which have specified load capacity on each servicing condition.
Overview The study focused on the tyre life on the main haul fleet at an open pit iron ore mine. The haul fleet consisted of 17 Komatsu 730 (180 t) haul trucks and 12 CAT 777 (90 t) haul trucks. The haulage operation consists entirely of tyre-based haul trucks. Five per cent of the total […]

As vehicle cabins become quieter, tire noise has become one of the main sources of unwanted sound, especially at medium and high speeds. Noise-reducing tires are developed to address this issue directly at the tire–road interface, where most road noise is generated.
